Tabs is the way to go I subscribe to other sites too that use tabs and its great you can walk away from the computer, laptop, ipad whatever and practice measure by measure any where. It’s a great site your a great teacher Ryan just keep the tabs coming.

Brett

Tabs are a great option. We can still learn by ear, but tabs help clarify some of the tuff areas. Thanks Ryan and keep up the great job.

My advise would be to stop playing the d7 and start playing a “D” chord. just put your index finger on the 2nd fret of 3rd string and your ring finger on the 4th fret of 4th string. This should work much better. Thanks, Ryan

Sure Larry, you can click here to see 5 different video lessons that we have created. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Ryan

Ryan, Thanks for adding the tab for the last tune. Appreciate it. You do a pretty good job of demonstrating via the video, but sometimes its just tough to see what is happening. It would be nice to see more tab … thanks again for your site and the hard work … later ,Bob Avery

I am a beginner, know very little. Have learned the cords but have trouble with D7. The finger on D7 rubes up againse the next string, causing a dull sound on that string.
Is there aany advise that anyone has on how to prevent this problem?

I am not sure if my computer will download the lesson fast enough. Can I try one lesson to see how it works? If satisfied I will join.

Ryan

Thanks Graham, glad to hear that you are liking the tablature. We may leave the standard music notation above the tab simply because some of the members only learn by standard notation. Just want to make it useful for everyone. Send us a video sometime of your progress. Thanks, Ryan

Ryan

Thanks Ian, We are planning to create tab for every new lesson from here on out. Keep us posted on your progress. :)

Great, the tab make it so much quicker for me, to grasp what the video is showing.
It still takes the practice time to get it down, there’s no way round that.
Much appreciated.

Hi Ryan,
My vote is , the tab is a good thing, I can print it off and when I’m away from a pc I can refresh my memory if need be.
Not to fussed on the music above the tab though.
Thanks keep em coming.

Porter, you’ll just have to be logged in to view the tab. It’s a simple pdf file that’s very quick to download once you’ve logged in to the member’s area; however you can not access it if you’re not logged in. Thanks so much. Ryan

Ryan

Thanks so much Bryan. We love having you on the site as a member. Keep us posted on your progress. :)

Hi Ryan! Putting tablature up is a great idea, it’s helping me so much more to take advantage of your superb lessons – you really do have a gift for passing on your knowledge, and I’m so pleased I took advantage, (a good while ago!) of signing up and becoming a member. Many thanks. Bryan, from Ivybridge in Devon, England, UK.

Love the new style of and different ideas on pickin for todays lesson.

I am not a fan of tablature as it lends itself to being more like a machine and learning something exactly as someone else may have improvised it. Tablature along with syncopation and feel are what make different players sound like different players.

I like to see and hear different approaches to the same song. Lets face it, Sammy don’t play Fireball mail like Earl and that is fantastic.

For your beginners it might be a welcome idea so they can kinda get the idea of what you should do and where but for me, and I realize I’m just one guy, I don’t care for it and never use it. Love improvisation.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Ronny

Ryan, I think the addition of tablature is a good idea. Good luck Ronny.

Ryan

Thanks Jack! Glad to know you like them. We are planning to add them to every lesson from here on out.

Ryan,

I have been playing (with) the banjo on and off for over 30 years and I do everything wrong. I am impressed with your style of teaching and I am thinking of signing up for your lessons. At my age (69) things do not happen very fast but I still have good agility in my hands and I enjoy playing the banjo and mandolin. My biggest disappointment is I have no one to play with since my two sons , guitar players, moved away. Is the lifetime membership any less expensive when you’re as old as I am? :-)

Jack

Absolutely ….. Keep the tabs coming!!

Sean Warner

hey, I am clearly a member as I receive your weekly videos, however, I am not able to log in to the membership site. I wanted to get the tabs, so am looking for help in logging in and getting tabs.

Thanks
