Here’s a great tune “John Hardy”. In this lesson we cover the first part of the tune. You’ll learn how to do the kick off pinch and land on the “C” chord.
You’ll also learn those little pull offs and hammers that are scattered throughout this song.
At the beginning of the video I’ll give you a sneak peak at the brand new, high quality leather banjo straps that we’re going to be offering on our site. Don’t miss it!

Pam, I just wanted to tell you that your enthusiasm is what will drive you to learn the banjo quicker than most. You are most definitely on the right track. It won’t be long. If you are interested in a FREE live lesson via webcam just write me at ryan@banjoexpert.com. I feel that it’s important to reward those who have a great attitude about learning. Your enthusiasm and taking the time to write is really an encouragement to all of us! Hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Ryan
Ryan, your video of the John Henry tune has fueled me with even more determination about learning to play the banjo. Even though I am just starting, I must tell you and others that after an afternoon of repetitive practicing and trying to have the breakthroughs I need to progress on even simple rolls, I sometimes get a little disheartened about not progressing as fast as I wish I could. But when I hear you play this tune, I get energized and motivated all over again, thinking that if I just keep having my little breakthroughs, regardless of how slow they seem to be coming, I am actually building up for the future when I can learn to do the types of things you do with a banjo. I’ll be ready soon when I can get the “muscle memory” of my fingers going for me on my rolls and then I’m on to the bigger stuff. I can’t wait! Just wanted you to know that all the “cool” stuff you do is important for even the beginners like me. Thanks so much! ~pam
