HI ! Can us premium members, that have been with you for a while, get your Tabulature book, or is that just for new members? I tried downloading it, and it seemed to download, and then it was gone?

John, the premium membership is currently the only membership available on the site. It’s the only way that you can access all of the video banjo lessons and tabs. It’s a one time $47 payment and then you have unlimited access for life. You’ll never be charged again. You can just click here, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Lifetime button. This will sign you up for life on banjoexpert.com. We look forward to having you on the site. Thanks, Ryan

John

Your email address does not work for me. I wanted to get an explanation on Premium Members. Is this an extra cost feature or are all dues paid members Premium Members?

Ryan

The real trick is that you have to really enjoy what your playing and like the songs that you are learning. If you don’t love it you’ll soon give up and move on to something else. Try to work on songs that you enjoy. If you don’t like Cripple Creek try something you enjoy. Make if fun and you’ll learn super quickly.

Hi Ryan, I joined your premium membership today. I have been receiving your free videos and could tell you were sincere about your teaching the banjo and I appreciate that. I have only been playing for about 3 months about an hour a day. I have noticed progress but I was wondering on ways to keep the motivation up beside just plain desire?

Ryan

Very good question Tommy, Let me make sure I understand. Are you asking how to become better and improvisation and less reliant on chords and tablature. If this is the case I would love to do a lesson on this. This seems to be a real problem that a lot of banjo students are facing. Thanks, Ryan

Ryan

Thanks Eddie. I really value your input and if I’m ever in the UK I’ll have to look you up so we can have a bluegrass jam :) We’ll keep posting the question and answers from other students. I agree that it seems to help others who have the same thoughts.

tomsacft

Ryan,
Do you have tips or exercises that help in associating the harmonic outline or cord progression of a song with the licks that I already know? I am having trouble getting past rote memory in my playing solos or backup. I am looking for someway to break through this wall that is holding me back from being more of a improvisational player.

Thanks,
Tommy

eddie

thanks for that ryan , im not doing to bad thanks , i think i mentioned before that i have lost the tips of my 2 picking fingures which does make life a bit difficult, but i am determind to make a go of it , trying to work on up the neck stuff at the moment so your latest suggestions to another student today are very useful indeed i must look at this method , i can play a couple up the neck like lonesome road blues wildwood flower so any ideas would be brill i look forward to getting your emails most days i wish you were in the uk im probably your only student over the pond , regards eddie

Ryan

Eddie we have written several emails back to you so I’ll repeat it here in hopes that you will be able to read it. We have your lesson request on the list. There are several requests ahead of yours so it might be a little while. We also try to record lessons that are the most beneficial to the most students. How is your picking coming along? Thanks,
Ryan :)

Watched “Cumberland Gap” video, and isn’t it simple! Can someone tell me why the simplicity gets lost when I try it? Years ago I could have blamed it on a communist plot.

Ryan

Clyde, I just reset your lifetime membership login info and emailed it to you. Let me know if you have any trouble or need anything further. Thanks, Ryan

Ryan

Thanks Ian for the comment. Glad to hear you are hanging in there on the banjo. Some days can seem tougher than others but it’s well worth it. Shucking the Corn is a great tune. I’m planning to add a lot of tablature to the site soon. I’ll post the Shucking the corn tab as soon as I get it online. Thanks so much, Ryan

ianandrews

Hi Ryan,

I recently signed on to your website and looking forward to improving my banjo play, which seems incredibly slow, despite trying to put time each day to it, but I shall be patient, May even send you a video clip when I feel confident. Have been playing for a year now, learning by myself, with DVDs, CDs and the web. I really like your “Shucking the corn” part 2, which I have been able to pick up by watching closely. But wouyld you have the tab for Part 1, which would make it easier to learn from. I have downloaded the TabLedit program but not yet installed it. Ian Andrews, ps will update my profile soon. Thanks

Ryan

Darrell, you are exactly right. You pay $47 once and that’s it. You then have full lifetime access to every lesson I ever produce. Those in the past and in the future. Hope to see you as a member. Have a great day!

Darrell

Hi Ryan,
Very impressed with your web site . Am I correct in thinking that i only need to pay 47 dollars for a lifetime access to your lessons etc. Would I have to pay another monthly subscription ? It just seems very good value for money . Are there any hidden extras?
Looking forward to your reply ,
Darrell

Hi Ryan,
Firstly, congrats on the birth of Brody.
Secondly, I have recently bought a 5 string banjo & really would like to learn to play ‘properly’. Where do you recommend I start? I’ve been playing guitar for a number of years (badly, lol) & thought i’d try out the banjo.

Thanks
Dave

Ryan

You will find no hidden costs ever on this site. You pay once and get all of the lessons and benefits. It’s that simple! You could ask any other member on the site. They’ll tell you they have only paid once. Thanks, Ryan

Rickey Purvis

I could not find an email address to send you a question. What hidden costs will I find if I do the lifetime membership? Second question… Is the Life Time membership any different than the Monthly one other than cost?

Regards,
Rickey Purvis

Ryan

Great! I’m glad that you are able to download everything. Yes, we are working on a pretty large upgrade that you should see evidence of very soon. It’s going to put us over the top. I’m pretty excited about it! Thanks, Ryan

Downloading your lessons: I think I figured it out. Some are flv format, so left click on the download link starts the lesson playing, and Real Player Add On provides download video option when mouse hovers over video. However, if you did a lesson in wmv, then the left click plays it but won’t download it. You have to right click the download link and select “save target as” and then it will download to your pc. All one file format would probably be helpful if possible to do on your end. Keep up the great work.

Ryan

Kenneth, thanks so much for the kind words about the site. I’m glad you’re enjoying it! When you open a lesson (blog post) and you are officially logged in and able to watch the video what you will need to do is to right click on the download link and then click “save-as” and save it to your computer. This should be the solution for you. If you’re still unable to download let me know and we’ll try something else. Thanks so much. I’m very glad to have you on the site. Ryan

Hi Ryan: Just became premium member a few days ago and think your site is terrific. Learning many new things. Basically a novice I would say. But it seems I am able do download certain member only lessons like the Shucking the Corn, but there are others that just start to play (dchordriffs for example) when I click the download link, but I can’t figure out how to create the download while it’s playing in media player. I have looked all thru the menu but just don’t see a download option while playing.

If you have an idea, please reply. Thanks.

johnmoore

Just signed up for your course etc and how much would a good banjo to invest in and where to get it? I feel a good quality banjo would be easier to fret and the feel of a good banjo, the neck etc is necessary? for student or non-professional desire but one that would have good to better quality? could you list some? $300.00 and some dollar range. I know there are expensive ones? in any instrument? if you can recommend? JT Thank’s you

Ryan

The prices are really true! You get the exact same privileges but you can chose to pay monthly if you wish. It’s your choice.

Steve K.

Ryan,I see that you offer a Life Time access for less than the cost of the monthly access to your lesson package. Am I missing something here or is this the actual cost? Sounds too good to be true!!

Ryan

Len, thanks for the kind comment. If you could email me the mp3 that would be great. I’m not familiar with it at the moment, but I have no doubt that we can figure it out. I’m glad to heat that you’ve got a couple of good banjos. This will put you far ahead of the crowd when it comes to banjo picking. You’re instrument (as you know) is a crucial piece of the puzzle. Thanks again. Email me anytime. Ryan
